How We Rank Emblems

This tier list ranks every emblem in Set 17 K.O. Coliseum based on:

  • **Raw trait power** — how strong is the trait at peak breakpoints?
  • **Flexibility** — can this emblem splash into multiple comps?
  • **Stat contribution** — does the crafting recipe provide useful stats?
  • **Build enabling** — does the emblem unlock a comp that's impossible without it?
  • **Availability** — is it craftable or drop-only?

Rankings reflect the current patch 16.8 meta and will shift as balance changes.

S-Tier: Build-Defining Power

Anima Emblem (Non-Craftable)

Why S-Tier: Build-defining for Fiora carry boards. The non-craftable status means scarcity drives value, and the 6-breakpoint unlocks Fiora's full potential. Anima Emblem dropping in your game is a signal to pivot.

Best Use: On Illaoi or Aurora as 4-trait utility holders, pushing Anima 6 with Fiora carry.

Weakness: Contested when multiple players go Fiora. Don't force the line if the lobby scooped Fiora early.

Dark Star Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + B.F. Sword)

Why S-Tier: Enables the strongest AP-damage vertical in the set. Dark Star 6 with Jhin creates game-ending fights. The B.F. Sword stat makes it usable on AD or hybrid carries even outside Dark Star commits.

Best Use: Mordekaiser or Karma as a multi-trait frontline/backline holder. Push for Dark Star 6.

Weakness: Weak to Rogue pressure — backline-jump assassins can delete Jhin before his 4th shot.

Stargazer Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Rod)

Why S-Tier: Sub-role system creates unmatched lobby adaptability. Stargazer 5 with emblem unlocks dual sub-roles, amplifying an already-strong trait. The Rod AP stat is a quarter of a Rabadon's Deathcap.

Best Use: On Nunu & Willump or Jax to stack trait count; Xayah as primary carry.

Weakness: Sub-role selection requires lobby-awareness. Wrong sub-role against the wrong matchup underperforms.

A-Tier: Strong Flex Picks

Psionic Emblem (Non-Craftable)

Why A-Tier: Non-craftable status makes it premium, and the 4-breakpoint enables Master Yi or Sona carries without heavy commitment. Slightly less game-winning than Anima but still a pivot-worthy drop.

Best Use: On Pyke or Gragas for trait stacking; Master Yi as primary carry.

Weakness: Requires specific frontline (Bastion or Brawler) to protect backline casters.

Brawler Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Belt)

Why A-Tier: HP-scaling trait means the emblem's Giant's Belt doubles down on the trait's mechanic. Brawler 6 creates game-ending frontlines. Essentially half a Warmog's even without the trait activation.

Best Use: On Urgot for 4-trait efficiency or as a tank stat stick on any frontline.

Weakness: Brawler's damage is less impactful against high-HP enemies; pairs best with true-damage or percent-HP carries.

Vanguard Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Negatron)

Why A-Tier: AP-feedback mechanic creates multiplicative scaling when paired with AP carries. Vanguard 6 with a Dark Star or Psionic backline is top-tier. Negatron stat is defensive value.

Best Use: On Illaoi or Mordekaiser for 4-trait density; pair with AP carries.

Weakness: Under-performs in AD-heavy comps since the AP feedback doesn't help your carry.

Space Groove Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Tear)

Why A-Tier: Never a dead emblem. 1-breakpoint activation means it provides value from turn 1. Tear stat is a partial Shojin on any caster. Scales up to 7 or even 10 for vertical commits.

Best Use: On Nami, Ornn, or Gwen for trait stacking; also a general stat stick.

Weakness: Ceiling is lower than pure vertical emblems at the top tier (Space Groove 10 requires heavy investment).

Meeple Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Chain Vest)

Why A-Tier: Large natural roster (8 champions) makes 7-vertical achievable. Chain Vest stat is defensive. Meepsie (Ivern) is a 4-trait emblem holder.

Best Use: On Meepsie for 4-trait efficiency; push Meeple 7 with Veigar carry.

Weakness: Meeple 10 requires emblem + augment, limiting the ultimate ceiling.

B-Tier: Solid Role Players

Sniper Emblem (Non-Craftable)

Why B-Tier: +Range bonus on holder is unique, but the trait's damage profile is narrower than flex origins. Still a strong pickup when you're pursuing Xayah or Jhin.

Best Use: Directly on your primary ranged carry (Xayah, Jhin, 3-star Ezreal).

Weakness: Requires specific carry champions to maximize value; less flexible than other emblems.

N.O.V.A. Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Sparring)

Why B-Tier: 5-breakpoint is a big jump that the emblem enables, but N.O.V.A. has limited splash value at 2. The Sparring Gloves stat is okay but less impactful than BF Sword or Rod.

Best Use: On Maokai for trait stacking; Kindred or Akali as primary carry.

Weakness: Requires full vertical commit; 2 N.O.V.A. splash is weak.

Primordian Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Giant's Belt)

Why B-Tier: Very efficient 3-unit vertical, but limited ceiling (only 2 breakpoints). Giant's Belt stat is exceptional. Great for stage 3 reroll lines.

Best Use: On Urgot for 4-trait utility; push Primordian 3 with Bel'Veth carry.

Weakness: Small roster means pool-outs happen when multiple players commit.

Challenger Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Recurve)

Why B-Tier: Smooth scaling from 2-5 and the Recurve Bow stat is a quarter of Guinsoo's. Pairs naturally with any AS carry.

Best Use: On Bel'Veth or Diana for trait stacking; Kindred or Jinx as carry.

Weakness: Trait bonus is powerful but less build-defining than origin emblems.

Marauder Emblem (Craftable: Pan + B.F. Sword)

Why B-Tier: Wide roster, smooth scaling, and gold-drop mechanic creates econ upside. B.F. Sword stat is valuable.

Best Use: On Urgot or Pantheon for 4-trait density; Master Yi or Akali as carry.

Weakness: Melee-focused means it struggles against backline-dive compositions.

Timebreaker Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Recurve)

Why B-Tier: Recurve Bow stat is excellent on AS carries, and the trait's action-speed manipulation is unique. 4-breakpoint is achievable with emblem.

Best Use: On Pantheon for 4-trait density; Ezreal reroll or Riven late-game carry.

Weakness: Timebreaker 4 is the cap, limiting ultimate ceiling.

Voyager Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Rod)

Why B-Tier: Flex-friendly scaling on cost diversity, Rod stat is AP-amplifying. 2-breakpoint is splashable.

Best Use: On Meepsie or Galio for 4-trait density; any AP carry.

Weakness: Requires cost diversity; under-performs in narrow reroll comps.

Rogue Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Sparring)

Why B-Tier: Backline-jump mechanic is strong, Sparring stat is crit-valuable. Smooth scaling from 2-5.

Best Use: On Briar or Gwen for trait stacking; Kai'Sa or Fizz as carry.

Weakness: Struggles against high-HP frontlines (Bastion 6, Brawler 6).

C-Tier: Niche Situational

Arbiter Emblem (Craftable: Spatula + Negatron)

Why C-Tier: Compact 2/3 breakpoints mean limited scaling ceiling. Negatron stat is defensive but Arbiter trait is less impactful than other splashes.

Best Use: On Leona or Zoe for trait stacking; Diana or LeBlanc as primary damage.

Weakness: Limited breakpoint jumps and small roster make it a niche pick.

Shepherd Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Tear)

Why C-Tier: Late-game scaling only — Shepherd 5 or 7 requires heavy investment. Tear stat is okay but the trait rewards slow boards.

Best Use: On Meepsie or Illaoi for trait stacking; LeBlanc, Bard, or Sona as primary carry.

Weakness: Struggles against AoE-heavy comps; summons die to sustained AoE damage.

Bastion Emblem (Craftable: Pan + Chain Vest)

Why C-Tier: Solid frontline trait but competes with Brawler and Vanguard for the frontline slot. Chain Vest stat is armor-focused.

Best Use: On Rammus or Jax for trait stacking; Ornn or Shen as primary anchor.

Weakness: Less impactful than Brawler (HP-scaling) or Vanguard (AP-feedback) in most matchups.

Emblem Priority Flowchart

Turn 1-2: No emblem decisions yet. Track components.

Turn 3-1 to 3-5: If you draft a Spatula, prioritize:

  • Space Groove (if you have Tear) — safest slam
  • Primordian (if you have Belt) — stage 3 spike
  • Voyager (if you have Rod) — flex-friendly

Stage 4-1 to 4-3: Commit to the emblem matching your strongest vertical direction. Use EmblemComp.gg to validate.

Stage 4-4+ Carousel: If a non-craftable emblem is up (Anima, Psionic, Sniper), prioritize for build pivot.

Stage 5-6: Capstone emblems (Dark Star, Shepherd) if committing to 6-breakpoint or 7-breakpoint verticals.

Meta Shifts

Emblem tiers shift with patches. Key balance levers:

  • **Trait power numbers** — direct trait nerfs/buffs move emblems up or down tiers
  • **Champion balance** — Fiora or Jhin changes affect their emblem's tier
  • **Emblem drop rate** — non-craftable availability affects build viability
  • **Augment reworks** — augments that grant emblems can shift priorities

Check EmblemComp.gg daily for current meta rankings based on live data.
