About Emblems

What are emblems in TFT?

Emblems are special items that grant a champion an additional trait. When equipped, the champion gains that trait as if it were part of their natural kit, allowing you to reach higher trait breakpoints or activate new synergies within your team composition.

How do I craft emblems?

Emblems are crafted by combining Spatula (for Region emblems) or Golden Frying Pan (for Class emblems) with component items. For example, Spatula + Negatron Cloak creates a Yordle Emblem, while Frying Pan + Tear creates an Invoker Emblem.

What is the difference between Spatula and Frying Pan emblems?

Spatula creates Region emblems (like Yordle, Ionia, Void, Zaun), while Golden Frying Pan creates Class emblems (like Invoker, Arcanist, Bruiser, Slayer). Both can be reforged into each other, so you can access any craftable emblem from either base item.

Which emblems cannot be crafted?

Six emblems in Set 16 are non-craftable: Disruptor, Gunslinger, Ixtal, Longshot, Piltover, and Warden. These only come from augments, carousel, or loot drops, making them more valuable when obtained.

Which regions have no emblem in Set 16?

Three regions have no emblem available: Targon, Shadow Isles, and Shurima. If you want to play compositions featuring these traits, you must build them with natural champions only.

Who should hold the emblem?

Emblems are balanced as "3 components of power" and work best on secondary or tertiary carries, not your primary damage dealer. Place emblems on support units, frontline tanks, or utility champions who benefit from the trait bonus.

When should I slam an emblem vs hold components?

Slam an emblem when: it helps you reach a critical breakpoint, you have a clear composition direction, or it's a non-craftable emblem. Hold components when: the emblem doesn't hit a breakpoint, you're still flexible on your composition, or your main carry needs core items.

What is the best emblem in Set 16?

The strongest emblems are typically Invoker, Arcanist, Yordle, and Ionia. Invoker provides mana acceleration for any ability-focused carry, Arcanist gives team-wide AP at high counts, Yordle is required for the powerful Veigar composition, and Ionia enables Yunara.

Using EmblemComp.gg

What does EmblemComp.gg do?

EmblemComp.gg helps you find the best team compositions for your emblems. Select the emblem(s) you have, and our tool shows you which meta compositions benefit most, what breakpoints you'll hit, and optimal champion configurations.

Where does your data come from?

Our composition data comes from millions of real TFT matches analyzed through the MetaTFT API. We update daily to reflect the current meta, ensuring you always have access to accurate win rates, pick rates, and placement statistics.

What is the difference between Meta First and Emblem First modes?

Meta First shows compositions that already use your emblem's trait, sorted by average placement. Emblem First shows ALL compositions ranked by how much value your emblem adds, including compositions where the emblem enables new synergies.

What do the level filters (8, 9, 10) mean?

These filters show compositions optimized for different game stages. Level 8 shows 8-unit compositions typical of mid-game, Level 9 shows late-game compositions with 9 units, and Level 10 shows maximum team size builds.

What are breakpoint indicators?

Breakpoint indicators (shown in green) highlight when your emblem helps a composition reach the next trait threshold. For example, going from 7 to 8 Yordles is a breakpoint that unlocks Veigar.

What are swap suggestions?

Swap suggestions show alternative champions you can use to optimize your composition when you have an emblem. They indicate which same-cost champions can be swapped to activate additional traits.

Is EmblemComp.gg free to use?

Yes, EmblemComp.gg is completely free. We're ad-supported to cover hosting costs. If you find the tool helpful, consider supporting us through a donation.

Traits & Breakpoints

What are trait breakpoints?

Breakpoints are specific thresholds where traits activate or become stronger. For example, Yordle has breakpoints at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Having 3 Yordles gives the same bonus as 2 until you reach 4.

Why do some traits need 3 to activate and others need 2?

Regional traits (like Ionia, Noxus, Demacia) typically need 3 champions for the first breakpoint, while Class traits (like Invoker, Arcanist, Defender) usually activate at 2. This is a balance design decision by Riot.

What is the most important breakpoint in Set 16?

8 Yordle is considered the most critical breakpoint because it's impossible to reach naturally (only 7 Yordle champions exist) and unlocks Veigar, a powerful carry. A Yordle emblem is required to reach this threshold.

How do I know if an emblem is worth using?

An emblem is worth using if it: (1) helps you reach a new breakpoint, (2) activates a trait you couldn't otherwise have, (3) fits a strong meta composition, or (4) provides meaningful stat bonuses to the holder.

Gameplay & Meta

What are the best compositions in Set 16?

Top meta compositions include Piltover Seraphine (3.91 avg), Yordle Veigar (4.05 avg), Zaun Warwick (4.12 avg), and Ionia Yunara (4.28 avg). The meta shifts with patches, so check our tool for current rankings.

How do unlockable champions work?

Some champions in Set 16 are unlockable through trait thresholds. Veigar unlocks at 8 Yordle, Baron Nashor at 9 Void, Zaahen at 7 Demacia, and Yunara at high Ionia counts. These are powerful units that require commitment to unlock.

Should I force a composition based on my emblem?

Not always. While emblems can enable powerful compositions, forcing a build without the right units or items often leads to poor results. Use emblems to enhance compositions you're naturally hitting, or pivot early if you get a build-defining emblem.

How often is the meta data updated?

Our data updates daily to reflect the current meta. After major patches, it may take 1-2 days for enough games to be played to establish reliable statistics for new or changed compositions.

What is Tactician's Crown?

Tactician's Crown (Spatula + Spatula) is a special item that grants +1 team size instead of a trait emblem. It allows you to field 9 units at level 8 or 10 units at level 9, which can be extremely powerful for reaching trait breakpoints.
